We need your help

Brock Jones Chairman Capital Campaign

I wanted to take a moment and revisit the reason we are raising money right now.  As you may know, the DKE house was built around 2007 and the changes to our campus since then have been monumental. While KA, ATO, Sigma Chi, and Phi have all been built within the last eight years or so along with extensive renovations to SAE, we have outgrown our mansion on the hill.

Though undisputedly the best location on campus, we are behind in daily living space.  Your money and this plan will change all of that and give the chapter and our alumni more ways to enjoy the house for the next few decades.

Right now, the only “hang out” areas are the small TV room on the right and the dining room. The plan is to take out walls on the east side to allow a larger area for the boys to congregate. (See below). The back of the dining room is also going to be enlarged to make it where the whole chapter can eat together at same time again versus in shifts.

For game-day, there will be increased access to the front by converting 9 windows into doors and extending the front porch in both directions.

There has been a problem keeping grass in the front yard so the plan is to make an appropriate patio type space in part of the front yard. (See first drawing).

For bathrooms, during game-day the main level will be women only and the basement will be men only.  There will be added basement access from the front yard.

We do not feel like the plans are extravagant; what they are is necessary.  Nonetheless it will be an expensive project. The costs will be covered by dues and hopefully $3,000,000 of alumni donations.  We currently have raised $1,700,000.

We have been very pleased with the response so far. The fond memories spent at DKE, the relationships developed while there, along with the fact that we all realize the house is in need of improvement have all contributed to the campaign’s success.

Your commitment is tax deductible, can be paid over five years, and can apply to both the DKE campaign as well as UA’s $1.5 billion The Rising Tide campaign.  I hope that you, like me, feel this is a way to give back to what DKE has meant to you over the years, whether it be helping you find your first job, developing lifelong friendships, or watching your son follow in your footsteps.

Please give it some thought and give me a call if you have any questions. You can also visit https://psi175.causevox.com/ for more information.
